Biography:

Randy A. Dougherty is Vice President, ANAB for the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board in Milwaukee, WI. Dougherty oversees the activities of a staff of 5 and 25 contract auditors. Dougherty holds a master’s degree in public health administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Lake Superior State College.

ANAB is the recognized national accreditation body for management systems certification bodies (CBs) in the in the US. ANAB is a member of the International Accreditation Forum and a signatory of the IAF MLAs for QMS and EMS. ANAB is a member of the InterAmerican Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) and a signatory of the IAAC MLA for QMS and EMS. ANAB is a member of ANSI.

Dougherty has 25 years of experience in third-party conformity assessment. He was the president and CEO of NSF-ISR, Ltd, a QMS and EMS registrar, from 1996 to 2000, and was employed by NSF International, an ANSI-accredited standards development organization and third-party product certifier, from 1975 to 1996.

Dougherty joined ANAB in March 2001. Current activities related to accredited conformity assessment as follows:

• Chair of the IAF Technical Committee and a member of the IAF Executive Committee
  
• Co-convener of ISO/CASO WG 21 that developed ISO/IEC 17021:2006 (ANSI appointed expert), and member of the ISO/CASCO Chairman’s Policy and Coordination Group
  
• Co-convener of the ISO 9000 Advisory Group which is chartered by ISO/TC 176, the IAF TC, and ISO/CASCO
  
• Member of the IAF-ILAC-ISO Joint Working Group
  
• Member of the AAQG RMC, and the Americas Sector rep for the OASIS database, and a member of the IAQG Oversight Team and OASIS subteam
