Biography: Mr. Berman began his engineering career in the aerospace field. Over 12 years, he worked for a number of firms on the east and west coasts specializing in rocketry and aircraft. In 1967, He headed up a joint venture reliability effort in Munich, Germany involved with the development of a multi-nation fighter aircraft. He subsequently joined UL Inc. for 32 years and was instrumental in their entering the quality field. I represented UL in most national and international bodies involved with quality and reliability. My most noteworthy accomplishments were being part of the original team that developed the ISO 9000 Series Standards and Chairing the International Committee that developed the first worldwide certification scheme for electronic components. Mr. Berman was responsible for Corporate Quality and Reliability when he retired in 2002. He is a Fellow in the American Society for Quality, a Professional Engineer in California and a Certified Reliability Engineer. Current memberships include the Executive Board to the United Stated National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission and Vice-Chairman of the Electronic Components Certification Board. He is a consult, specializing in quality certification and other areas.
